Semra Kitchen
Senior Director, Search & Evaluation R&I AstraZeneca
Semra Kitchen is Senior Director of Business Development at AstraZeneca, based in Cambridge, England. She joined AstraZeneca in 2025 and focuses on driving strategic business development initiatives.
Prior to AstraZeneca, Semra held multiple leadership roles at GSK, including Business Development Director for Immunology and Search & Evaluation – Specialty, Director of the Immunoregulation Group in the Adaptive Immunity Research Unit, and Program Leader within the Cytokine, Chemokine, and Complement DPU. Her experience spans early drug discovery, antibody programs, and facilitating collaborations between academic researchers and industry through GSK’s Discovery Partnerships with Academia (DPAc). She also held roles at Domantis as Senior Biologist and at GSK as Senior Scientist, working on domain antibody tissue targeting and preclinical mAb programs.
Semra earned her PhD from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, University of London, studying membrane dynamics in differentiating B cells. She holds an MRes in Biomolecular Science from the University of York and a BSc in Biological Sciences from Lancaster University.
